Born at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans during WWII rum abundance, the Hurricane is the city's emblematic tropical long drink—bright, viscous, and built to be sipped through a straw in a hurricane glass. A great Hurricane balances the puckery lift of fresh lime against the lushness of passion fruit and the caramel depth of darker rum; use fresh juice, a good-quality light rum for backbone, and a flavorful dark rum for weight. If you're shopping locally in Buffalo or at our store, seek out fresh passion fruit syrup or juice and a proper dark rum to get the authentic profile and color.
Ingredients
| 1 ½ oz | light rum |
| 1 ½ oz | dark rum |
| 2 oz | passion fruit syrup (or passion fruit puree + simple syrup) |
| 1 oz | fresh lime juice |

| ½ oz | grenadine (for color and rounding sweetness) |
| 1 dash | Angostura bitters |
| 1 tsp | orange slice and maraschino cherry (garnish) |
Instructions

- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly frothy.
- Fill a hurricane glass with crushed ice and strain the shaken mixture over the ice.
- Top with a little extra crushed ice if needed and give it a gentle stir to marry the layers.
