Zinfandel

They're made from the same grape but they're completely different wines. Zinfandel is a bold, dark, dry red. White Zinfandel is a pale pink, sweet, low-alcohol rosé made with minimal skin contact.

Red Zinfandel is dry, though its very ripe jammy fruit and high alcohol can read as sweet. White Zinfandel is genuinely sweet.

Jammy blackberry and raspberry with black pepper and a spicy, sometimes smoky finish. It's typically high in alcohol and full-bodied — one of the boldest American reds.

Barbecue is the natural match — its jammy fruit and spice stand up to smoke and sweet sauce. Also excellent with burgers, ribs and pizza.
