Distilled spirits are generally gluten-free — distillation removes gluten proteins, so vodka, tequila, rum and most whiskey finish under the 20 ppm threshold. Agave (tequila) and sugar-based (rum) spirits are naturally grain-free; flavored spirits and some liqueurs can add gluten, so check the label.

Keep bottles upright (unlike wine) in a cool, dark spot away from sunlight and heat. Sealed spirits last for years; once opened they stay good for a long time, though very low bottles oxidize slowly over months.
