Cream Liqueur

A spirit blended with dairy cream and flavoring — Irish cream is the classic, alongside coffee, caramel and chocolate versions. Typically 15–20% ABV, sweet, and rich enough to drink on its own.

Once opened, yes. It contains real dairy, so refrigerate after opening and aim to finish it within about 6 months. Unopened bottles are fine in a cool cupboard until the date on the label.

Look for thickening, curdling or a sour smell. Dairy separation that won't mix back in with a shake means it's past its best — when in doubt, replace it.

Coffee is the classic — Irish coffee, or a splash in espresso. They're also excellent over ice, in hot chocolate, or in dessert cocktails like a mudslide or White Russian variation.
