Box Wine questions

How long does box wine last after opening?
Far longer than a bottle — about 4 to 6 weeks refrigerated, with the best flavor in the first 2 to 3 weeks. The bag collapses as you pour, so very little oxygen gets in. An open bottle, by contrast, is done in 3 to 5 days.
Does unopened box wine expire?
Yes — unlike bottles, boxed wine has a limited shelf life even sealed, because the bag is slightly permeable. Check the best-by date and plan to drink it within about a year of packaging. Box wine isn't made to age.
How many bottles are in a box of wine?
A standard 3-liter box holds the equivalent of four 750ml bottles, which is why it's usually better value per glass and popular for parties.
Should box wine be refrigerated?
Once opened, yes — even reds. Cold slows oxidation and keeps it tasting fresh through the whole box. Let a red warm up for a few minutes before drinking.
